As we are only about four months away from a iPhone 14 launch, Apple fans are thrilled with the new device. YouTuber Unbox Therapy previews a CAD (computer-aided design) mockup of an iPhone 14 Pro Max made in Japan.
At first glance, the mockup looks identical to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, based on the mockup device, there are some differences between the two generations.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max looks a little bigger
With an iPhone 13 Pro Max in hand, Unbox Therapy notes that the mockup looks a little bigger than the 13 Pro Max. The camera bump is noticeably larger, which makes the device a bit heavier. The power and volume buttons are also slightly larger. There are also no visible antenna strips on the side of the device.
The mockup also shows that the bezels are slightly smaller but not enough to require adjustments in the iOS interface.
We also expect the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max to have a “pill + punch” cutout instead of a notch. That’s what the model shows in the video – great news for those who despise the notch. Additionally, the iPhone 15 line is also expected to feature the “pill + punch” cutout.
No USB-C yet
USB-C stans will have to wait longer as the iPhone 14 lineup is likely to still feature a Lightning port, as seen in the mockup. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the iPhone 15 range will be the first to use a USB-C port.
The 9to5Mac take
This new mockup appears to follow everything we’ve seen so far regarding the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It seems a bit boring that the device looks identical to the last two generations, but the progress is incremental. Only a few more months to see if these predictions will materialize. Overall, if you’re used to an iPhone 13 Pro Max, holding the 14 Pro Max should be no different.
